The Department of Cinema and Television organized the “Television News Production Workshop,” conducted by Ali Eren İğde — a Cameraman at Haber Global, former DHA correspondent, and a graduate of our department — on October 16, 2025, at the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (Room A13305).

The workshop lasted approximately three hours and concluded with strong participation and engagement from students.

The session began with Ali Eren İğde introducing himself and sharing how he started his career in journalism. He then focused on the technical aspects of television news production, such as video gathering, framing and composition, lighting balance, and image sharpness.

Participants had the opportunity to learn the differences between studio camerawork and field camerawork, supported by real-world examples from İğde’s professional experience. In the second part of the workshop, he explained the news collection, writing, and broadcasting processes in detail. Topics such as pre-shoot preparations, equipment checks, interview question design, obtaining permissions, and fact verification were thoroughly discussed.

İğde also described the editorial evaluation, editing, and broadcasting stages of television news, providing an in-depth look behind the scenes of journalism. Toward the end, a short discussion on media ethics, media ownership, and the use of artificial intelligence in journalism took place.

Throughout the event, students were inspired by İğde’s professional insights, memorable field experiences, and stories of overcoming challenges. Emphasizing that he once sat in the same classroom seats, he encouraged students by saying that they, too, could succeed in the industry.

The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session.
The Department of Cinema and Television extends its sincere thanks to Ali Eren İğde for his valuable contribution.
