Content and Details

Students from the Department of Cinema and Television at Çankırı Karatekin University, Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, paid a technical visit to TRT General Directorate on 4 June 2026 within the scope of the Production and Direction in Television II course, with the contributions of the Cinema Society.

The technical visit, organized to enhance students’ professional knowledge and experience, was accompanied by Lecturer Salih Köse, the course instructor and academic advisor of the Cinema Society, and Lecturer Dr. Mustafa Kocabinar. During the visit, students had the opportunity to observe different stages of broadcasting production on site and receive information directly from professionals working in the field.

As part of the program, the students first visited the TRT Broadcasting History Museum. During the museum tour, Mr. Suat Yüksel accompanied the students and provided information about TRT’s broadcasting history, the development of radio and television technologies, and the institutional memory of broadcasting in Türkiye. Through the broadcasting equipment, archival materials, and historical items exhibited in the museum, students had the chance to closely examine the development of radio and television broadcasting in Türkiye.

Following the museum visit, the students toured the TRT Avaz Studio, TRT Spor and TRT Spor Yıldız studios, and the 15 July Nation Studio. In these sections, Mr. Recep from TRT Haber accompanied the students and provided information about studio structures, live broadcasting processes, camera and lighting arrangements, control room coordination, and the functioning of broadcast flow. Students observed on-site how on-screen and behind-the-scenes processes are organized in television broadcasting.

Within the scope of the technical visit, the students also visited the news editing and program editing studios as well as the TRT Archive Unit. In these departments, they were accompanied by Hatice Avcı, Chief Editor at TRT Haber. Students had the opportunity to see how editing processes are carried out in news and program production, how archival materials are used in broadcasting, and the importance of post-production stages in content production.

During the visit, students also attended live broadcasts and observed the preparation stages before going on air. TRT Haber Anchor Cemile Nur Kınacı and TRT Spor Anchor Nilüfer Gönenden took special care of the students before the live broadcasts and shared their professional experiences with them. Kınacı and Gönenden provided guiding information on anchoring, live broadcast discipline, on-screen preparation, and professional development in the media sector. Throughout the visit, students’ questions were patiently and thoroughly answered by TRT staff.

The technical visit contributed to students’ ability to observe the theoretical knowledge they gained in the course within a professional broadcasting environment. By examining studios, control rooms, editing units, archive departments, live broadcasting processes, and broadcasting history on site, students gained comprehensive experience regarding television production and direction processes. In this respect, the visit became an important practical activity that increased students’ sectoral awareness and contributed to their professional development.

As the Department of Cinema and Television at Çankırı Karatekin University, Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, we would like to thank Mr. Suat Yüksel, Mr. Recep from TRT Haber, Hatice Avcı, Chief Editor at TRT Haber, TRT Haber Anchor Cemile Nur Kınacı, TRT Spor Anchor Nilüfer Gönenden, and our driver Mustafa Dokumacı for their valuable contributions and support throughout the technical visit.
